Georgia’s Rome Photo Contest 2024 Call for Entries

CONTEST DETAILS

Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism is pleased to announce a call for entries for the annual Georgia’s Rome Photo Contest. Locals and visitors are challenged to explore area attractions and locations to creatively capture Georgia’s Rome.

– Photographs should highlight a variety of area locations and experiences that visually illustrate the beauty of Rome.

– Photographs will be juried and selected for the exhibition.


AWARDS

A panel of three judges will select photos from all entries to be included in the Georgia’s Rome Photo Exhibition to be held at the Rome Area History Center.

Only works displayed at the exhibition will be considered for awards. Work selected for the exhibition will be juried for the following prizes in these categories: 

1st Place: $100 Gift Card

2nd Place: $75 Gift Card

3rd Place: $50 Gift Card

Honorable Mention: $25 Gift Card

People’s Choice: $75 Gift Card

All prize winners may select a gift card of their choice from one of the current Georgia’s Rome Hospitality MembersRestaurantsRetailersService Providers, Hotels


EXHIBITION & OPENING RECEPTION

Exhibition Dates: July 27 to August 3, 2024
Opening Awards Reception: Saturday, July 27, 11 am
Exhibition Location: Rome Area History Center, 1st Floor

The public is invited to the exhibition of works selected from all photo contest entries.

Photographers have the option to sell their photography displayed at the exhibition; photographers receive 100% of the total sale.


JUDGES

Three master photographers  from the Rome Georgia Photography Club will jury the show and select winners in each category. The judges have a broad and well rounded knowledge of photography and will be announced once judging is completed.

PEOPLE’S CHOICE

  • The public will have the opportunity to select a People’s Choice Award for best photo to be featured at the exhibition.
  • All entrants’ photos will be uploaded onto the Georgia’s Rome Facebook page and the public will be invited to vote
  • The photo with the most combined Likes and Comments will win the People’s Choice Award.
  • Prize: $75 gift card awarded at the opening reception for the Georgia’s Rome Photo Exhibition

TIMELINE

  • May 16 – June 16 midnight: Submit photo entries
  • June 17 – 19: Photo entries are posted on Georgia’s Rome Facebook for People’s Choice voting
  • Monday, June 24: Artists whose works are selected for the exhibition will be notified by email
  • Monday, June 24: Artists whose works are selected for the exhibition will be announced publicly
  • Wednesday, July 24: Deadline for selected artists to deliver works for exhibition (art must be framed and ready for presentation); deliver works to the Rome Area History Center
  • Saturday, July 2711 am, Opening Awards Reception; public invited to opening reception and awards at the Rome Area History Center
  • Saturday, August 31Last day of show
  • Tuesday, September 3: Photographers pick-up works at the Rome Area History Center

PUBLICITY

  • Artist’s works selected for the exhibition will be recognized at a public art reception
  • Work will also be showcased and credited throughout the year in print and online media promoting Georgia’s Rome.
  • All work selected for the exhibition is for sale unless otherwise noted. Interested parties should contact the artist directly to handle purchase agreements. Contact information for each artist will be provided at the exhibition.
