Paddle & Float Rome’s Rivers
Rome offers many ways to enjoy our three rivers including paddle boarding, kayaking, and floating. Get details and maps on launch points and take out locations along the rivers and where to rent/purchase equipment.
Cave Spring Rolater Park
Cave Spring is probably THE ‘COOLEST’ place around Rome where you can visit the family-friendly cave that stays a steady 54 degrees year-round. It provides cool spring water to the nearby streams and lake that are perfect for a swim on a hot summer day. Visit Cave Spring for a full day of cool summer fun!
Cave Spring Rolater Lake
Your pool may get warm when it gets hot outside, but the spring fed lake at Cave Spring is perfect for keeping you cool in the summer! Visit Rolater Park
Town Green
Kids and the young at heart will enjoy cooling off in the splash pad and fountain during the warm weather months. The Town Green Splash Pad is located adjacent to the trails and river in the heart of downtown.
Rocky Mountain Recreation Area
Rocky Mountain Recreation is a beautiful area in Rome located close to the Chattahoochee National Forest and features 2 lakes with great fishing and a beach for swimming. Make it a weekend and enjoy camping. (Camping is online reservation only).
Cedar Creek Park
This RV Campground offers paddle or float trips down the river with equipment rentals and transportation. Make it a weekend and reserve camping to enjoy all the amenities.
Jackson Hill Trail System
Running or walking a trail may not come to mind when considering ‘COOL’ activities, but this one made the list because the Jackson Hill Trails are the BEST summertime trails. Covered in a canopy of trees, this shady trail stays pretty comfortable on a warm day!
Visit a Museum
A great way to cool off on a hot day is to learn about the wonderful history of Rome! We suggest visiting the Rome Area History Museum, Chieftain’s Museum and Oak Hill & Martha Berry Museum.
