1.) Take a Paddle or Tubing Trip on Rome’s Rivers
One of the best ways to spend a hot sunny day in Rome. River Dog Paddle Co. rents paddleboards, offers tours, and even provides lessons. River Ratz rents out the tubes and kayaks, and shuttling is included in the rental fee.
2.) Visit Rome’s Historic Sites
Summers are the perfect time to explore new places with the family. Rome has a rich storied past packed with many historic sites to see. Here’s is a list of some of our favorites!
3.) Run or Bike on One of Our Trails
We have a plethora of different trails, for both hikers and cyclists. The Heritage Trail System offers over 13 miles of paved trails. Jackson Hill offers a variety of shaded trails, perfect for a break from the summer sun!
4.) Go on a Guided Tour of Rome
Whether by foot or by boat, there are a variety of ways to explore Rome. Walking tours are offered the first Saturday of every month and boat tours are offered the first Sunday – the tourism office is always happy to book special tours for groups!
5.) Take a Trip to Wonderful Cave Spring
About 20 mins from downtown Rome, there is much to explore in beautiful Cave Spring. With a lake that is shaped like our state as well as a family-friendly cave to explore, there’s more than enough to satisfy your inner adventurer!
6.) Shop in Downtown Rome
See all the unique shops and much more in Downtown Rome while also beating the summer heat. If that doesn’t help cool you off, there’s always the fountain located in the middle of downtown at the Town Green!
7.) Discover Rome’s Nightlife
Rome has a variety of late night restaurants and bars with live music. Perfect for chilling on warm summer evenings.
