Big hats, fast horses, and bourbon. Is it the Kentucky Derby? Nope, this is the Georgia Steeplechase. For over 52 years Atlantans have been gathering to cheer on the quickest championship horses of their day.We are keeping the tradition alive.

Berry College Theatre Company Presents “The Dining Room” – April 12 – 29

Set in the dining room–or many dining rooms–Gurney’s play centers on the place where the family assembled daily for breakfast, dinner and special occasions. The action is a mosaic of interrelated scenes which, taken together, create an in-depth portrait of a vanishing species: the upper-middle-class WASP.

Yacht Rock Schooner at Rome City Brewhouse – April 13

Yacht Rock Schooner specializes in the smooth sounds of the late ’70s and early ’80s. It’s a party that spans generations, and the band is comprised of some of Atlanta’s top players with a dual keyboard setup, multiple ace vocalists and (of course) a sax man. If you’re a big fan of Hall & Oates, Steely Dan, Kenny Loggins, and Michael McDonald, this is the band for you.

Annual Chieftains Herb & Plant Sale – April 14 – 15 – FREE EVENT

It’s time to dust off your gardening gloves—the 2018 Herb & Plant Sale is almost here! This year’s sale will take place on April 14th and 15th in the Village Building at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds, with sale hours from 8:00am-4:00pm on Saturday and 12:00pm-3:00pm on Sunday. Experts from the Georgia Master Gardener Extension Volunteers of Floyd County will be on site from 12:00-2:00pm to answer all your plant related questions.

Up the Creek Without a Pedal – April 28

There’s no place like Rome for the 28th annual Up the Creek Century Ride on Saturday, April 28. The ride leaves from the Forum in Downtown Rome and heads north to the scenic roads and rolling hills of NW Georgia. Use UTC as a training ride for Big BRAG that will start in Rome and hit the Georgia mountains June 2-6. Back by popular demand is the LCCL Strawberry Farm SAG stop with the best homemade strawberry ice cream on the planet!

Seven Hills Performing Arts Festival – April 28 – FREE EVENT

Presented by the Rome Symphony Orchestra – Join us for our first family fund day celebrating the fine arts, games, activities, and music for the whole family. And it is FREE! Family concert at 1:00 pm in the Auditorium conducted by Maestro Jeffrey Dokken.

Young Artists Concert – April 28

The 8th Annual Young Artists Competition winners perform with the return of Maestro Jeffrey Dokken. You will be dazzled by the musical talent and skills of these young musicians as they perform with the Orchestra.
