2023 Georgia’s Rome Photo – Exhibition Details
EXHIBITION
All photos submitted will be considered for inclusion in an exhibition to be held July 15 to August 19. Photos selected for the exhibition will be juried by master photographers for prizes. The exhibition will be held on the first floor of the Rome Area History Center.
TIMELINE
- March 21 – May 7 midnight: Submit photo & video entries
- May 10 – 13: Photo & video entries are posted on Georgia’s Rome Facebook for People’s Choice voting during National Travel and Tourism Week
- Friday, May 19: Artists whose works are selected for the exhibition will be notified by email and/or phone
- Monday, May 22: Artists whose works are selected for the exhibition will be announced publicly
- Wednesday, July 12: Deadline for selected artists to deliver works for exhibition (art must be framed and ready for hanging or presentation); deliver works to the Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism
- Saturday, July 15: 11 am, Opening Awards Reception; public invited to opening reception and awards at the Rome Area History Center
- August 19: Last day of show
- August 22: Photographers pick-up works at the Rome Area History Center
PEOPLE’S CHOICE
- The public will have the opportunity to select a People’s Choice Award for best photo and best video to be featured at the exhibition.
- All entrants’ photos will be uploaded onto the Georgia’s Rome Facebook page
- The public will be invited to vote for People’s Choice from Tuesday, May 9 to Friday, May 12
- The photo with the most combined Likes and Comments will win the People’s Choice Award.
- Prize: $75 gift card awarded at the opening reception for the Georgia’s Rome Photo Exhibition on July 15
AWARDS
A panel of three judges will select photos from all entries to be included in the Georgia’s Rome Photo Exhibition to be held at the Rome Area History Center.
Work selected for the exhibition will be juried for the following prizes in these categories:
Category: Drone: 1st Place: $100 Gift Card
(2nd & 3rd place: Ribbons)
Category: Places: 1st Place: $100 Gift Card
(2nd & 3rd place: Ribbons)
Category: Events: 1st Place: $100 Gift Card
(2nd & 3rd place: Ribbons)
All prize winners may select a gift card of their choice from one of the current Georgia’s Rome Hospitality Members: Restaurants, Retailers, Service Providers, Hotels
Rome Photo Club Prize: The 1st Place winner in each category and the Peoples Choice winner will be awarded a free Rome Photo Club membership for 1 year.
JUDGES
Three master photographers from the Rome Georgia Photography Club will jury the show and select winners in each category. The judges have a broad and well rounded knowledge of photography. Preference will be given to color photographs. Photographs must have been captured within Floyd County, Georgia. The judges are Frank Cardamone Jr., Lorrie Smith, and Anne Say.
Frank Cardamone Jr.
Frank is a single father of two children, a lifestyle photographer, and the owner of Cardamone Photography. He is known by the handle “Frank TheTank” on social media. He is the current President of the Rome Georgia Photography Club, an award-winning photographer, and his work can be seen in numerous publications around the world. His photography spans multiple genres including weddings and engagements, portraits, special events, sports, landscapes, and exotic destinations.
Lorrie Smith
Lorrie is the owner of L. Smith Photography, former President of the Rome Georgia Photography Club and current member of the club for the past 10 years. As one of the Master photographers in the club, Lorrie specializes in portrait, studio, macro and nature photography. In addition to this, Lorrie is a mother of 3, grandmother to 6.
Anne Say
Anne is half introvert/half extrovert. It can be exhausting, but coffee helps. Her reputation as a visual storyteller helps people show up and look their best in their photos. As a Brand Photographer, Anne supports businesses with their visual branding so they stand out in their market and connect with more of their ideal customers. Anne is married to an Englishman. They love to adventure and explore, especially in their RV tiny home. It helps with work/life balance. She’s down to earth, simple and straightforward. Just like photos should be. With that style, she brings an authentic professionalism to her clients’ pictures.
PUBLICITY
- Artist’s works selected for the exhibition will be recognized at a public art reception
- Work will also be showcased and credited throughout the year in print and online media promoting Georgia’s Rome.
- All work selected for the exhibition is for sale unless otherwise noted. Interested parties should contact the artist directly to handle purchase agreements. Contact information for each artist will be provided at the exhibition.
