Whether you are planning a romantic getaway to celebrate the New Year, Valentine’s Day, or maybe an anniversary; Georgia’s Rome offers a variety of fun getaways for the outdoorsy couple.

A stay at the Hearn Inn in Cave Spring, Georgia is a must for those desiring to appreciate the scenic beauty of nature. Located in Rolater Park where swans frolic in the lake next to a cave provides the perfect backdrop for a romantic stroll.  You can also fill your water bottle at the spring as you venture off to a day’s worth of hiking and adventure. Check out the Pinhoti Trail which runs through downtown Cave Spring. Explore the cave where you can purchase a bag of food for the fish!  (During winter months, call ahead to explore the cave, it’s open by appointment only: 706-777-0202). Cedar Creek Park, located on the outskirts of the city, offers canoe and kayak rentals to make your stay a little more adventurous!

Rome and Floyd County is known for it’s wide variety of trails for hikers and mountain bikers of all skill levels. From the undulating trails of Jackson Hill and Garrard Park, to the serene trails of Marshall Forest to the challenging hikes on Berry College campus, there is an endless supply of outdoor fun. We recommend making the hike to The Pocket or The House of Dreams, which both offer scenic backdrops for that cute couples selfie.

For those looking to try something new,  River Dog Outpost offers paddle board rentals and tours. Though the weather may be cold in January and February, there’s nothing like breathing the crisp, natural air with scenic river views! Once you return your boards, stick around for a craft brew at the popular beer garden at River Dog. Warm up by one of their many fire pits or hang out on the covered deck that is always warm and cozy.

Paddle boarding is both a fun group activity and couples activity!

It’s easy to make it a weekend getaway when you plan your visit around upcoming events! With so much to do from concerts and nightlife, to outdoors exploration and history, Rome truly has it all. Explore the Etowah River on a paddleboard or kayak with the help of River Dog Paddle Co. You could even bring your own.  Why not try one of our fabulous restaurants in Downtown Rome or Cave Spring? We guarantee you’ll discover a new favorite that’ll keep you coming back for more. It’s an experience you’ll both never forget.

The Robert Redden Memorial Bridge at night.

Not to be missed by the outdoor couple is the Robert Redden Bridge, which is a walking bridge lined with “love locks” of couples that hang a lock on the bridge railing to memorialize their permanent love for one another. The view of the bridge is breathtaking during the day, but it is extra romantic in the evening when the lights illuminate the American flag.
