Public Invited to Veterans Day Memorial Service
The public is invited to attend the annual laying of the wreath ceremony on Veterans Day at Veterans Plaza located at historic Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The ceremony will feature an account of America’s Known Soldier, PVT. Charles Graves, whose tomb is the centerpiece of the plaza. The ceremony will include a performance by Model High School band.
A traveling replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier will also be on display at the ceremony.
The memorial service is organized by Shanklin-Attaway American Legion Post 5, led by Commander Johnny Walker.
The public is also invited to view the memorial bricks at Veterans Plaza, including those that were purchased this year and have been recently installed.
More than 3,000 engraved bricks fill Veterans Plaza to honor and memorialize military veterans and civilians for their service to this country.
The Veterans Day service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11. Veterans Plaza is located at 194 Myrtle St. SW. in Rome, Georgia.
