Women-Owned Businesses in Downtown Rome to Support this Month

Posted March 14, 2017 by Georgia's Rome in Dining, Downtown, Shopping

Women’s History Month is a month dedicated to the women that make the world go round. Granted, why do women have to settle for just one month, when we can support them every day of the year?!

Harvest Moon Cafe/Dark Side of the Moon/Moon Roof Bar

No choice is a bad choice here

Enter one of the pinnacles of Rome downtown dining scene. The Harvest Moon Cafe has been feature in Georgia Eat Magazine for their delicious burgers and is loved for just about everything else on the menu. Check out each of the “Moons” for a different experience catered with live music, great beer, and amazing food year-round!

Whistle Britches

It’s almost time for me to restock my closet

One of the most popular shops on Broad, Whistle Britches sells a variety of stylish clothing and jewelry for men and women alike and also features some truly unique decor items.

Jamwich

Just look at that beautiful turkey…

Jamwich was born out of a love for funky music and even funkier jams. Each of these sandwiches has a unique and tasty jam or jelly. Take the El Fuego for example, buffalo chicken with avocado and bacon while topped with cheese and strawberry jam; or the Dirty South Mouth with pimento cheese, london broil, hydro bibb lettuce and onion, and topped with raspberry jalapeno jam. Try them all, you won’t be disappointed!

River Dog Paddle Co./River Dog Outpost

Getting ready for paddleboarding season…the weather will be perfect at the Outpost too

River Dog got its name from a real good dog named River, who was found along, you guessed it, Rome’s rivers. Now he serves as the mascot for a love of paddle boarding in Rome, as well as one of the best beer gardens in Northwest Georgia. Stop in at River Dog Paddle and you can rent a paddleboard for the rivers and even go on one of their guided tours. After a day on water, just walk next door for a cold beverage to really have the best spring or summer day.

Speakcheesy

Over 50 different recipes to try? Stop me I’m drooling

Speakcheesy started as a cheesy dream and has become cemented as one of Rome’s favorite food trucks! You can often catch them at River Dog Outpost, which makes for the perfect late night snack after bar hopping Rome, especially because they are the last place open to get some delicious food along Broad Street.

The Foundry Growler Station

Beer AND wine to taste and take home?!

While not technically on Broad Street, this fairly new establishment has already become such a local favorite of the downtown scene. With so many different beers and now wines to choose from, you can try before you buy, for the ultimate customer satisfaction. The also have been host to several of the food trucks around Rome. Mark the Foundry as a must try for your Rome Bucket List!

Thank you, for noting downtown businesses owned by women in Rome, Ga. You may want to continue the story. There are so many in the downtown district. My store the Yellow Door Antiques and Art is one of them. We are located at 219 N 5th Ave. Others include Sassy Salvage, Paula’s, To Can Do, MakersVillage, Green’s Jewelry, Living & Giving and many more. I would bet that over 50% of downtown businesses are owned by women.

Interesting that you missed KaliedoSno, on Broad St for 25 years. What about Blended Elements?

We primarily promote Hospitality Association members, but we of course encourage everyone to support local businesses, especially those owned by women.
