Rocky Mountain Recreation Area

Rocky Mountain Recreation is a beautiful public fishing area in Rome located close to the Chattahoochee National Forest and features 3 lakes with great fishing and a beach for swimming.  Enjoy the outdoors with bike trails, hiking trails, geocaching, archery and wildlife viewing. Make it a weekend and enjoy camping.

Fishing

• Fish Species: Largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish, crappie, hybrid striped-white bass.
• Three lakes include Antioch Lake West, Antioch Lake East and Heath Lake
• Heath Lake is only open the first 10 days of each month for fishing
• A valid Georgia Fishing License is required to fish on this area
• Concrete boat ramps and fishing jetties

Amenities

• Public beach for swimming (no lifeguard on duty)
  Please note: swimming is only permitted on the public beach, it is not allowed anywhere else on any of the lakes
• Public restrooms
• Picnic shelters & picnic tables
• Scenic overlooks
• 13 miles of trails for hiking and biking
• Archery range located near Heath Lake
• Group picnic area (reservation only)
• Some facilities are ADA accessible

Parking

Fee: A daily parking is required for all visitors: $5

• Cash is required for parking fee – exact change only. The beach entrance kiosk also accepts credit cards.
• An Annual Pass ($30) is available by mail order. Get details
• The Georgia State Park’s Pass is not accepted at Rocky Mountain PFA. Rocky Mountain PFA parking permit required (one per vehicle). WMA license is not required.

Camping

• Tent ($12/night)  & RV camping ($30/night)
• Open year-round, must reserve online
• Group primitive camping (reservation only)
• Restroom and shower facilities
