Tim Reynolds talks to students after accepting his award
The Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau (GRCVB) recognized Tim Reynolds today with a surprise award presentation at Pepperell Middle School for his extensive volunteer work in the community.
The GRCVB presented Tim with the “Roman Acts of Kindness” award which recognizes a member in the community who consistently goes above and beyond to provide hospitality through service, kindness and good deeds.
Tim was nominated for his leadership efforts in working to rejuvenate and restore the Lindale area. Tim created the non-profit, Restoration Lindale, an organization that works to revitalize the historic mill village community. Tim is responsible for organizing community clean-up days; coordinating Christmas parades, and working to preserve the Lindale Mill’s place in textile industry history.
Scharla Battle, who nominated Tim for the award said, “Over the years I’ve watched Tim do so many great things for our town. Seeing the results of Tim’s hard work to support our community really touches my heart.”
The GRCVB announced a call for nominations earlier in March. This is the first year the GRCVB has presented the “Roman Acts of Kindness” award, which was created as an extension of the “Superstars of Service” award program which recognizes front-line workers in the hospitality and service industry.
“We wanted to recognize individuals who may not work in the hospitality and service industry, but work hard to create the friendly culture and beautiful environment that attracts visitors to Rome and Floyd County,” said GRCVB Communications Director, Kristi Kent.\\

Prior to the awards presentation, GRCVB Executive Director, Lisa Smith, challenged the students at Pepperell Middle to emulate the actions of Tim Reynolds by finding ways to offer their own “Roman Acts of Kindness” in their school and community life.
“We truly live in a special place,” said Tim Reynolds upon accepting the award. Tim was overwhelmed with emotion as he shared words of wisdom with the students and encouraged them to appreciate the supportive community environment that Lindale offers.
Pepperrell Middle School Principal, Becky McCoy expressed her gratitude for Tim. “Our school is blessed to have Tim and he sets a great example for all our students.”
