The third annual Spring Art Market returns this month with a continuing spotlight on some of Rome’s most spirited artists. The event will showcase local artisans as well as food producers and authors at the Rome Civic Center on April 11th and 12th, with each putting their talents and passions on display.
Sponsored by the Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Last Stop Gift Shop, the Spring Art Market is an easy way to spend a spring weekend. The market is right in the middle of town, on top of one of Rome’s local landmarks, Jackson Hill. Not far from downtown either, the market is easily accessible and would be a great place to spend a Friday and Saturday with friends and family. Admission and parking to the event is free! The event also features delectable choices for lunch and an early dinner from local food vendors and food trucks. The showcase is indoor and outdoor, so don’t let the weather prevent you from coming!
This market is given fresh life by the artisans participating in it. The previous two markets featured every type of craftsmen from jewelers, woodworkers, photographers, painters and even local food producers. All of these crafts are made locally, demonstrating the wealth and diversity the artistic culture in Northwest Georgia.
Last year’s market featured almost 70 local vendors, who are specially picked from a jury. The Spring Art Market has been growing and expanding each year, according to Charlene Mathis, Last Stop Gift Shop manager. Mathis believes the market does more than just showcase local art.
“The market pulls the community together,” said Mathis, “and helps drive the creative economy through the artists.”
Come and experience this wonderful creative culture we have here in Georgia’s Rome. Come and see these artisans exploring their talents and come enjoy good food with loved ones. The Spring Art Market isn’t something you want to miss!
