FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Final boat tour of season to depart in early October
ROME, GA. — The public will have one last opportunity this year to see Rome from its rivers aboard the Sulzbacher Roman Holiday on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Guests aboard the vessel will learn about Rome’s rich Civil War and steamboat history, and how the river ways played a pivotal role in the city’s development. The tour will be led by local historian and author Mike Ragland.
“Sailing on the Sulzbacher Roman Holiday is one of those essential Roman experiences, both for our residents and for our visitors,” said Lisa Smith, executive director of the Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Seeing the town from the water gives you a new appreciation for the natural and manmade beauty found here.”
Attendees will also get a glimpse of the beginning of the changing leaves as they cruise down the Coosa River, a portion of America’s most diverse ecosystem.
The tour will depart from the dock at Heritage Park at 2 p.m. and will last approximately two hours.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Tickets must be pre-purchased and are available at the Rome-Floyd Visitor Center located at 402 Civic Center Drive.
The Sulzbacher Roman Holiday is a 45-passenger excursion boat owned by the City of Rome and is also available for rental by private groups. Cruise options are unlimited from educational tours to sunset cocktail and dinner parties.
Contact the Rome-Floyd Visitor Center at 706.295.5576 for more information.
