About the Amphitheater:
Dr. and Mrs. Charles “Soc” Sennett donated funds for the creation of the Chuck Sennett III Amphitheater in memory of their son, Chuck Sennett III, a Darlington graduate and renowned aviation photographer who died in a plane crash in 1995. The site holds special significance for the family, as Barbara Sennett previously served as president of both the Floyd County Library Board and the Rome Area Council for the Arts (RACA). The project, a collaboration between local officials and RACA, was originally proposed in 2017, officially broke ground on May 24, 2022 and was dedicated on August 13, 2025.
