When it’s cold or rainy outside, and you just want to have fun, GO explore Rome indoors!

Create your own masterpiece swerve

At Swerve:Off the Path, there is over 400 paint your own pottery items. They also offer art parties, camps, and workshops. Another great place to try is Earthworks Pottery – they offer classes and workshops for handbuilding and the wheel!


Explore Local History rome area history center

Take a step back in time and visit the Rome Area History Center! Explore the permanent exhibits that portray the history of Rome and experience local history up close!


Experience Native American History and Heritage

Chieftains Museum/ Major Ridge Home was once the former home of Cherokee leader Major Ridge and his family. See his home and surrounding land. Learn the history and traditions of the Cherokee Indians and the clash of cultures that culminated in the tragedy known as the “Trail of Tears.”


Wine Tasting

At Newby Farm + Vineyard Tasting room, sample seasonal vintages grown and produced in Rome, Georgia. From dry red to sweet white, they offer award winning wines; pair it with a delicious dessert box for the perfect rainy day treat! Olea Olive Oils & Wine also offers wine tastings with a menu that changes monthly – no reservations needed!

If craft brews are more your style, we love Rome’s award winning local brewery, River Remedy. They offer a selection of craft beers including Light Ale, Altbier, Belgian Dubble, IPAs, and Stout.


Axe Throwinggame of throwns

Game of Throwns – Rome offers urban axe throwing (and knife throwing) which is quickly becoming a favorite form of entertainment across the globe!
They will even teach you how to throw!


Return to the Big Screen

The movie experience is still most impressive on the big screen. Catch all the latest releases at the Movies at Berry Square to escape the day – and the rain – at a good show!

Located in Historic Downtown Rome, The Sharp Sickle is a great place to stop in for coffee, tea, or any of their delicious gluten-free baked goods!
We also love Honeymoon Bakery for treats, and Swift & Finch for fresh roasted coffee, also located in downtown Rome.


And one more fun idea for a rainy day! Go bowling! It’s one of those sports that is fun for all ages to play!
