The Rome MLK Commission invites everyone to celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. in Georgia’s Rome.
2021 Martin Luther King Jr. Celebrations, Jan 16-18
Saturday, Jan. 16, 9:00 a.m. (Virtual event) The prayer breakfast will be livestreamed on the “6 Wills” Facebook page at 9 a.m. Saturday; Pastor Steve Caldwell from Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church will deliver the message.
Sunday, Jan. 17, 5 p.m. (Virtual event) The Ecumenical Service will be livestreamed at 5 p.m. on the Thankful Missionary Baptist Church Facebook page and YouTube channel. Rev. Bernard Young will be the featured speaker at that event.
Monday, Jan. 18, 11:00 a.m. The MLK Commission invites everyone, especially those who are food insecure, to the Rome Civic Center for a drive-through lunch. To-go boxes of chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, rolls and dessert will be handed out. Lunch will be served from 11 am – 1 pm or until the food runs out.
(The Freedom March in Downtown Rome is cancelled this year).
MLK Service Day Cleanup, Jan 20, 9 a.m.
Join Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a day of service. Meet at Garner & Glover to clean up under the Turner McCall Bridge. The clean-up will run from 9 am to 11 am.
