Upcoming Events & Happenings Around Georgia’s Rome

While many events by necessity and safety have been canceled or postponed, there are many groups who have found ways to safely conduct businesses while promoting safe practices. Check out a few of our upcoming (and ongoing) events and happenings.

Rome-Floyd E.C.O. Center Speaker Series
Vision: How Animals Perceive the World

The ECO Center presents a Speaker Series for part of the year, and we are very fortunate to have Dr. George Gallagher of Berry College for the last one of 2020. He will give a great presentation on how animals see and perceive the world around them. This is a fun and engaging program that takes a different approach than some of our other Speaker Series events. This program is Thursday, 10/15 at 6:00pm. This event is free, but space is limited.

Georgia Trust Fall Ramble
October 17
Tour grand historic homes and sites in Rome, Georgia including the “Between the Rivers” historic district, the largest Victorian era district in the state and the site of Rome’s founding in 1834. Ramblers will also have the opportunity to visit sites in nearby Cave Spring, which is home to over 90 structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The event offers drive-through packet pickup and registration, boxed lunches, and a socially distanced outdoor closing reception on a 1,500 acre farm. Register now:

Wings Over North Georgia Air Show
October 24 – 25

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will headline Georgia’s Premier Tailgate Party at the eighth annual Wings Over North Georgia Air Show on Oct 24-25 in Rome, GA. To provide a safe environment for air show attendees, the 2020 event will utilize a drive-in format for the air show, offering spectators the perfect mix of social distancing while watching some of the top military and civilian aviation performers.

The River Arts District Playhouse (The RAD located at 233 North 5th Ave, Rome, GA )

See Bram Stoker’s original story about Count Dracula, a 15th-century prince. He is condemned to live off the blood of the living, for eternity. The theatre is checking temperatures at the door and will provide guests with a mask if you do not have your own. Guests are asked to wear a mask unless you are eating or drinking. Bar and concessions are available. The RAD Playhouse is sanitized and cleaned before and after each performance.  

2020 Rome International Film Festival
November 12-15, 2020

The 17th annual Rome International Film Festival offers a fresh and diverse lineup of top-notch films. The festival was selected as one of “20 film festivals worth the entry fee” by Moviemaker Magazine, The Rome International Film Festival (RIFF) is the premiere film event in Northwest Georgia.

The Rome International Film Festival is diligently monitoring the Covid-19 situation and making preparations to ensure the safety of all filmmakers, attendees, staff, and volunteers for this year’s festival. At this time, the Rome International Film Festival will still take place as scheduled November 12th – 15th, 2020.

 Rome Christmas Parade: Heroes of 2020
December 1, 2020
7 PM – 11 PM
Downtown Rome, Broad Street

The theme of the parade will be “Heroes of 2020” and will honor all the wonderful people who went above and beyond during this year including medical personnel, public safety officials, teachers and school personnel, the faith community and all others who have helped our community during the pandemic year.

The Parade will be held on Broad Street as it has been since its inception. However, the committee is planning a contingency plan in the event that the route and location needs to be modified to reflect CDC guidelines in effect at the time of the parade in order to ensure the safety and health of the community.

Georgia’s Rome Winter Art Market
