Five Exciting Winter Events in Rome

Posted December 21, 2017 by Georgia's Rome Staff Writers in Events

2018 promises to be filled with even more exciting events to go to and locations to see. To kick off the New Year, we are sharing 5 things we are excited for in January!

1. The Three Rivers Bull Riding Invitational

This January, we are grabbing 2018 by the horns (literally!) at the Three Rivers Bull Riding Invitational, which will take place at the Forum River Center on January 5-6. Why we’re looking forward to it? This is a fun sporting event that is appropriate for the whole family to attend! Whether you’re attending by yourself or a group, you’re sure to be entertained by supporting the competitors in a daring arena. Or maybe you just want an excuse to bring out the cowboy hat and boots? Perfect – you won’t want to miss this event!

2. Plunge and Paddle

Again this year, The Cave Spring Historical Society will be hosting the Annual Polar Plunge Jump in Rolater Lake, which is followed by the traditional lunch. One ticket gets you access to the event and a cool t-shirt! The event takes place New Year’s Day. Also in January is the Polar Bear Paddle, which is hosted by the Coosa River Basin Initiative, Keep Rome Beautiful, and Rome River’s E.C.O. Center. We are looking forward to these events not just because of the fun and creative ways they highlight the beauty of Floyd County’s natural environments and the importance of keeping them clean!

3. Flavor Tours

January kick-starts this year’s round of Flavor Tours with the chance of embarking on a new culinary experience that highlights the unique flavors Rome has to offer. Just by purchasing a ticket, you are guaranteed a special insight into what makes Rome’s restaurants special. Head to our website to learn more about the Flavor Tours!

4. Fresh, Artistic Perspectives

This January, the Rome Little Theater will be putting on their production of Picasso at the Lapin Agile, which is the LONGEST RUNNING off-Broadway absurdist comedy. The production features geniuses Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso conversing in a Parisian cafe in 1904. The play promises to bring to light the brilliancy of these two renowned individuals who changed the world through their progressive ideas. What better way to begin the new year than to enjoy a local production of an award-winning play!

5. A New Year Full of Fun

There’s nothing more exciting than celebrating a brand new year filled with fun upcoming events, new adventures to be had, and new people to meet here in Rome. Be sure to check our event calendar regularly and pencil us in for 2018 because we’ve got a lot of exciting things coming up!
