The “Rome Grown, Rome Made” market hosted by The Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau will return for a third season this Friday, April 22 at The Last Stop Gift Shop. The market will run weekly on Friday mornings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through the end of September.
The market features canned goods from local grower Nan Selman offering selections to include dill pickles, pear honey, apple butter, relish, candied jalapenos and flavored salts. As the growing season progresses, the market will offer fresh home grown vegetables and fruits in addition to canned goods.
Local artists will be featured throughout the season. On opening day, featured artists Charlie Self and Tom Canada will offer demonstrations on wood turning. Their work will also be available for sale at The Last Stop Gift Shop.
“We are excited to launch the second year of “Rome Grown, Rome Made”, says Gift Shop & Visitor Center Manager Charlene Mathis. “Locals and visitors alike want to buy items grown and made in Rome. This weekly market is just another way to support our local growers and artists.”
The Last Stop Gift Shop is located inside the Rome-Floyd Visitor Center at 402 Civic Center Drive across from Steak ‘n Shake and Applebee’s.
