Troy Brock Selected as New Rome-Floyd Fire Chief

Troy Brock Fire ChiefThe offices of the Rome City Manager and the Floyd County Manager are pleased to announce Troy Brock has been selected as the new Chief of the Rome Fire Department to succeed Gordon Henderson.  Brock, a twenty-five year veteran of the Department, currently serves as Interim Chief and Division Chief over Operations.   Brock was selected from a field of six internal candidates who presented before an interview panel consisting of Assistant City Manager Patrick Eidson, Human Resources Director Rita Odom, County Manager Jamie McCord and City Manager Sammy Rich.

Brock started with the Rome Fire Department in 1990 and has advanced through the ranks having served as a supervisor since 1995.  Brock is a 1987 graduate of East Rome High School and holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Fire Science as well as numerous certifications.

“He certainly has the educational background and practical hands on experience that we need to continue the positive momentum in our Fire Department,” said Sammy Rich. “Brock is well respected amongst the department and has served as the incident commander at several large scale emergency events over the years.”  Rich will present Brock to the Rome City Commission for confirmation of his appointment at the April 27, 2015 commission meeting.
