FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Rome Selected for Top 10 List of “Rising Destinations For Meetings”

ROME, GA. — Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau (GRCVB) is pleased to announce the Editors of ConventionSouth magazine; a national multimedia resource for planning events that are held within the South, have officially announced Rome, Georgia in their 2015 list of the “Rising Destinations For Meetings.”

The destinations were selected by ConventionSouth’s editorial team based on research on hundreds of destinations across 16 states in the South and the Caribbean Seas Region. Editor’s selections were based on each destination’s increased and enhanced offerings as a location for groups, meetings and events.

Rome City Manager, Sammy Rich says, “The Rome CVB’s dynamic team works hard to secure meeting and group sales.  The development of our downtown and urban riverfront along with the onset of downtown hotels and new Welcome Center make Rome very attractive to meeting planners and visiting groups.  All these pieces work together to create economic growth for our community.”

Lisa Smith, GRCVB Executive Director praises the investments the city and county makes to provide enhanced offerings for visitors: “Rome is a great city for meetings; it is safe, affordable and very charming along with the top notch southern service from all of our partners.”

Jamie McCord, Floyd County Manager, says the latest developments along with planned improvements are key to driving economic development in Rome and Floyd County: “The upcoming community supported SPLOST project for the Forum will add technological and aesthetic enhancements broadening our appeal to event and meeting planners to attract even more visiting groups.”

“The Forum has provided the backdrop for everything from corporate and religious conferences to regional training and industry meetings,” says Forum Manager, Brent Poplin.  “We are happy that Rome has become a destination to watch within the meetings industry.”

Rome will be featured in the December Issue of ConventionSouth. The Top 10 List of “Rising Destinations For Meetings” will be circulated to more than 18,000 meeting professionals across the country.
