FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Downtown Rome Welcome Center Opens December 13

ROME, GA. — Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau (GRCVB) will open the new Welcome Center in downtown Rome on Saturday, December 13 and Saturday, December 20 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The Welcome Center will be staffed during peak times for visitors and will be accessible from Tribune Street. Inside the Welcome Center, guests can attain information on everything Rome has to offer. Gifts and souvenirs sourced from the The Last Stop Gift Shop will also be available for guests to purchase.

“The Welcome Center was created to support and encourage tourism in downtown Rome which is beneficial to our local economy,” said, Sammy Rich, Rome City Manager. The renovations required to build the downtown Welcome Center were made possible by community supported 2013 SPLOST funds.

Ann Arnold, Downtown Development Director says, “The Rome-Floyd Visitor Center satellite location is a perfect fit as many tourists are set on the exploration of historic downtown Rome.  I am confident the addition of the center to downtown will contribute to an overall increase in foot traffic and the continued success of the city center.”

The Welcome Center fronts Tribune Street and is conveniently located adjacent to the Town Green and urban riverfront close to parking, Forum Civic Center, restaurants, and the rivers to allow visitors the ease of obtaining information without leaving the historic district.

“From new businesses, to events to expanding green space, Downtown Rome has so much to offer visitors – we’ll help them navigate all there is to see and do in Rome.” said Charlene Mathis, Welcome Center Manager.

The Welcome Center serves as an official visitor information center and is a satellite office of the Greater Rome Conventions & Visitors Bureau. Parking validations at the Forum Deck will be available during Welcome Center hours in December.
