ROME, GA. — The Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau (GRCVB) announced today that Luke Chaffin, special projects coordinator, will be leaving the organization on Friday, Oct. 3.

Chaffin will join the faculty and staff of the Darlington School in Rome as the new content manager in the communications office.

He began his time at the GRCVB in August 2011 as a customer service specialist in the Rome-Floyd Visitor Center. He was later promoted to special projects coordinator in spring 2013.

“Luke has been a valuable asset to our team ‘on the hill.’ He increased awareness and our community’s visibility in his last year as our special projects and marketing professional,” said Lisa Smith, GRCVB executive director. “Darlington is a great next step in his very promising career.”

“There was so much that I learned working for the GRCVB that college and additional real world experience would have never taught me,” said Chaffin. “The tourism industry will always hold a special place in my heart.”

Shelby Farrer, GRCVB sales coordinator, will serve as the interim special projects/marketing coordinator. Farrer came to the tourism office as an intern in 2012, and was hired in October 2013.

Future media requests and marketing inquiries can be directed to Farrer’s attention at media@RomeGeorgia.org or 706.295.5576.
