FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Law promoted to assistant manager of Rome’s visitor center and gift shop

ROME, GA. — The Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau (GRCVB) announced today that Debbie Law of Rome, Ga. has been promoted to assistant manager of the Last Stop Gift Shop & Rome-Floyd Visitor Center. Law joined the GRCVB as a customer service specialist in June 2013.

Law will continue to work closely with the front-line operations of the visitor center and gift shop, with a focus on inventory management. Law’s duties include working with leisure travelers to create personalized itineraries, fulfilling information requests, and customer service care within the gift shop, which specializes in signature gifts from Georgia’s Rome. In addition to being the first point of contact for many of Floyd County’s visitors, Law has been instrumental in updating the gift shop inventory system by managing the transition into a new point-of-sale interface.

“The addition of Debbie onto the management team truly fulfills a need that we have had as we work to cultivate our consignment artist base and grow our retail operations at the visitor center,” said Charlene Mathis, gift shop and visitor center manager.

Before working for the GRCVB, Law assisted her husband, a portrait photographer, as a part of the Mark Law Studio. Most recently, Law worked for two years in a customer service role at the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority’s Rome-Floyd Tennis Center.

Law is a lifelong Roman and the daughter of Scott and Nan Henson. She and her husband of 28 years, Mark Law, reside in the West Rome area and are the parents to three sons, Sid, Rea and Dent. She is a graduate of the Darlington School and Stetson University (DeLand, Fla.), where she received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance. Law is a member of Rome First United Methodist Church, and sits on the Chieftains Museum Advisory Board and the planning committee for the annual Chieftains Museum Herb & Plant Sale. In the past she has also served on the Chieftains Museum Board of Directors. In her free time, Law enjoys gardening, sewing and cooking.

The Last Stop Gift Shop & Rome-Floyd Visitor Center functions as the public arm of the GRCVB, the official destination and sports marketing organization for the Greater Rome community. The GRCVB’s mission is to strengthen the economic prosperity of the community through tourism development by attracting leisure travelers, conventions, meetings, sports and events. Over 2,300 visitors came through the doors of the gift shop and visitor center in 2013.

The Last Stop Gift Shop & Rome-Floyd Visitor Center is located at 402 Civic Center Drive, across from Applebee’s in Rome.
