CounterPoint comes to Kingston

Posted April 22, 2014 by Kristi Kent in Events

Disclaimer: the quality and gravity of music that will be in nearby Kingston later this month will be like nothing else that has come to this corner of Georgia before. The likes of Outkast, Foster the People, Pretty Lights, and other standout artists will all come together April 25th-27th for what is sure to be an unforgettable weekend of music. Best of all: it is a 20-minute drive from your house!

The event is all-weekend-long, rain-or-shine, with the opportunity to camp for the duration of the festivities. Tickets can be purchased online, with the option to buy a three-day weekend pass or a one-day ticket.

The uniqueness of CounterPoint is the nuance of music it carries with it. The major sounds during the weekend will be the ever growing EDM (Electronic Dance Music) genre that’s really sweeping the nation, with standout group Pretty Lights, one of the festival’s top performers. Other EDM groups such as Above & Beyond, Krewella, Major Lazer, and Flux Pavilion will bring even more noise to this energetic weekend.

Hip-hop legends Outkast, originating from just down the road in Atlanta, will be headlining the event, with other hip hop artists like J. Cole, Schoolboy Q, and Chance the Rapper performing throughout the weekend. Foster the People, a recent breakout indie group out from Los Angeles, will be another headliner with other indie, alternative and R&B groups like Janelle Monae and Thundercat, making way for a diverse weekend of music.

Altogether, CounterPoint brings a fresh new sound from all around the world to Georgia’s Historic High Country, with veterans in the business leading the way.
