FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Davies to sign copies of latest novel

ROME, GA. — Local author Merrill J. Davies will be signing books at the Last Stop Gift Shop on Thursday, Oct. 3 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Davies’ latest novel, “The Truth About Katie”, will be highlighted throughout the evening.

The story follows the life of the title character who decides to return home after a two-year absence. Estranged from her husband and children in eastern Kentucky, Katie returns to find great challenges and hurdles in front of her. She finds along the way that family secrets from her past may explain why she left home in the first place.

“Missing persons stories have always fascinated me,” said Davies. “[‘The Truth About Katie’] was born from a variety of stories about people who have left their families and eventually reappeared.”

Davies grew up in Laurel County, Ky., attended Cumberland College and Union College, and graduated with a degree in English education. Davies has lived in Rome since 1974. She is married to Bill Davies, and has two daughters, Lori Davies Barfield and Melanie Davies Dempsey.

The event is free to attend and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Copies of Davies’ books will be available for purchase at the signing. The Last Stop Gift Shop is located inside the Rome-Floyd Visitor Center at 402 Civic Center Drive, across from Applebee’s. Call 706-295-5576 for more information.
