  • Spirits of the Civil War: Rome’s Riverways
    • Date: May 5
    • Time: 2pm
    • Location: Heritage Park
    • Cost: $8, $5 children under 12
    • Description: Explore Rome’s vast river system of the Oostanuala, Coosa, and Etowah aboard the Roman Holiday, a passenger boat. The tour will show the major features of the riverways that were used as both troop transportation and defense blockades during the Civil War. Tickets: Adults $5.00, Children $2.00.   • Civil War Art Show:

    • Description: A collection of art related to the Civil War by the Rome Art Coterie on display in Blacktop Studio.
  • Spirits of the Civil War: Where Roman Rest
    • Date: October 19, 2013
    • Time: 10am
    • Location: Myrtle Hill Cemetery
    • Cost: $8 adults, $5 children under 12
    • Description: Mingle with residents of Myrtle Hill and learn more about the permanent residents of the cemetery holding the greatest heroes and heroines of Rome’s past. The cemetery dates to 1857 and is the final resting place for 20,000 of Rome’s most notable residents including 400 Civil War graves. Spectators will firsthand see and hear their stories and significance to Rome’s development into a modern city. Tours depart at 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, 11:30am and 12pm from Veteran’s Plaza at the front of the cemetery. This tour includes a moderate to strenuous walk with steep steps and slopes involved. Stories are not intended for young children.
