The Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home was once the residence of Cherokee leader Major Ridge and his family. A National Historic Landmark and official site on the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail, the museum tells the story of the Cherokee people—from their origins to their forced removal.
Explore Cherokee artifacts found on-site and stroll through the demonstration garden featuring native plants, traditional Cherokee crops, and species once grown on the Ridge farm. Special events and programs are offered throughout the year.
