“When it comes to film scouting and production, Ann Hortman is Floyd County’s greatest asset. A lifelong Roman, she knows every crook and cranny, mountaintop road, every building, farm or vista you could possibly want. And she knows where the good restaurants are! But, that’s not surprising, as everyone I’ve met in Floyd County, from people on the street to their city officials, are as friendly and helpful as they can be, and are very welcoming to the film industry. When you combine that kind of shared enthusiasm with the broad range of location looks and possibilities, you’d be foolish not to consider working in Floyd County for any kind of media project.”

“When I was scouting locations to shoot DANCE OF THE DEAD, it was as if the script was written for Rome, Georgia. That town had everything we needed. Most of our movie takes place in a high-school, so we took over an abandoned school which became our base camp. Then the rest of the town became our back lot and the fine townsfolk became our extras. Rome, Georgia welcomed us with open arms and went above and beyond in helping us make this film possible. This movie could not have been made without their dedication and hard work.”

The team moved into the small town of Rome, GA for an intense five week production period that was to be like no other. “I like to shoot movies in my home state because you can get ‘more bang for your buck’ than shooting in LA.” says Bishop. “Most locations in Georgia are unique and have never before been captured on film… and Rome, GA oddly had every location we were looking for in town. It was as if the film was written to take place there. So we set up camp in an abandoned high-school so that the town became our backlot and the townsfolk became our extras.” Fresh off the plane from Hollywood Ballarini found the injection southern hospitality inspiring, “From the Superintendent to the Undertaker, the entire town came out to lend a hand in one way or another. We were on the front page of the newspaper every other day, which was always hilarious. Kinda made us feel like rockstars.”

“My experience filming in Rome was so awesome, it made me want to live there. This is the top place that I have ever filmed and I will film there again – The CVB is most helpful with lining us up with people and locations. Rome is VERY film friendly- My favorite place in Georgia.”
