Cave Spring Rolater Park & Pinhoti Trail

Rolater Lake

Rolater Lake, affectionately known as the Cave Spring Pool, is open on weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Fed by the spring from the adjacent cave, the overflow creates a peaceful reflection pond and a shallow stream—perfect for young children to splash and explore.

The spring then fills the park’s 1.5-acre swimming lake—the second-largest in Georgia—with refreshing, mineral-rich water. There’s plenty of space for lap swimmers, floaters, and playful water lovers.

Surrounded by a wide, grassy lawn, it’s also a favorite sunbathing spot. The pool complex features a snack bar, volleyball area, picnic tables, and a bathhouse for convenience.

The Pinhoti Trail

Pinhoti Trails runs through Rolater Park, with trailheads located just outside of town, southwest of Cave Spring. Stretching over 165 miles, it is the longest thru-trail in Georgia. The trail winds through Coosa, follows Taylor’s Ridge to Dalton, then heads north to Ellijay, eventually connecting with the Appalachian Trail. Start your hike from the nearby trailhead, Potts Hollow Trailhead.
