One of Berry College’s most distinctive and charming features is its thriving deer population, which adds to the natural beauty and serene atmosphere of the campus. With an incredible student-to-deer ratio of 1:7, it’s not uncommon to spot deer roaming the grounds. In addition to deer, Berry is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including bald eagles, waterfowl, coyotes, turkeys, and other native species of northwest Georgia.
Most of the wildlife resides within the Wildlife Management Area (WMA) on campus, where several controlled hunts are held annually to help manage populations responsibly.
Of special note are the world-famous Berry Bald Eagles, who nest on campus and can be viewed from a designated observation area, offering a unique opportunity to witness these majestic birds in their natural habitat.
