Celebrate the New Year in Georgia’s Rome

What better way to ring in the New Year than to celebrate it in Georgia’s Rome! Here are some great ways to start your new year off right!


New Year’s Eve Fireworks Show
Time: 7 PM
Location: Jackson Hill

Kick off the new year with a colorful fireworks show! Atrium Health Floyd is partnering with Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation to help usher in the new year. Fireworks will be launched from Jackson Hill, allowing people throughout Rome a great opportunity to see the display.

Holiday Lights of Rome – Last Day is Dec 31
Your last chance to see this spectacular holiday light experiences is New Year’s Eve. The show closes at 9 p.m. Load up the family car for a drive-thru light show at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds.

If you’re celebrating in historic downtown Rome and need transportation for the evening, our Free Roman Chariots will be running on New Year’s Eve! We wish everyone a safe and Happy New Year!


New Year’s Day

First Day Hike
Time: 10 AM

Location: Civic Center Drive

Start the new year on the right foot by taking part in the First Day Hike at Jackson Hill trails. Gather at the Civic Center parking lot for a moderate, 2-mile hike.

Time: 10 AM

Location: Rolater Lake Swimming Pool
Take an icy dip at this polar plunge challenge in the chilly spring fed lake shaped as the State of Georgia!
Proceeds benefit the Cave Spring Historical Society.


The Rink at Ridge Ferry ParkRink at Ridge Ferry Park Ice Skating – Nov  20 – Jan 15
Bundle up for outdoor ice skating at Ridge Ferry Park and enjoy some seasonal fun! Concessions will be available on-site to grab some holiday treats. Get daily hours and prices
