We’ve put together this list of festivals and fairs throughout the year that every traveler needs to see!

Big Fibber Festival – Rome City Auditorium – March 11 – 17

The Ridge & Valley Storytelling Guild is proud to introduce the 5th Annual Big Fibbers Storytelling Festival and its educational component, the Debby Brown YoungTales Program. Our Big Fibbers Festival brings the best storytellers in the nation to Rome and draws listeners from all over the Southeast. You will hear all types of stories, from tall tales to personal narratives, both hilarious and tender. A highlight of the weekend festival is the Big Fibbers competition to determine the winner of the coveted Whopper hat.


Spring Art Market – Rome Civic Center – April 6 & 7 Free

The annual Spring Art Market celebrates Georgia artists, crafters, and growers. With an expanded collection of gifts, foods and outdoor decor, the market will provide you with one-of-a-kind items! Free admission and free parking!


Downtown Saturday Arts Festival – Downtown Rome – May 4 Free

The first event in the series will be held Saturday, May 5 and encompasses visual art, live music, culinary flavors, and cultural performances. Shop a variety of local art at the Ellen Axson Wilson Art Walk; watch artists create works in chalk at the Chalk Your Heart Out competition. Hear performance by regional singer-songwriters. See downtown Rome light up at the Rome Lantern Parade.

Cave Spring Baconfest – Rolater Park, Cave Spring – May 4

Bacon lovers, this event is for you. Sample a variety of homemade bacon dishes including bacon fudge – yummy! The festival also features a local arts and crafts fair.

Roman Roast on the River  – Ridge Ferry Park – May 10 & 11

The hottest barbecue competition in North Georgia returns to Ridge Ferry Park! Join us as bbq teams battle it out to become this year’s Grand Champion!

Spirit of the Sun River Festival – Downtown Rome – June 1 Free 

Downtown Rome’s Spirit of the Sun River Festival includes 1, 3, and 6-mile Chieftain’s Challenge paddle races for adult recreationists of all abilities with the six-mile reserved for elites. As part of the Downtown Saturdays event series the festival will include live music, free yoga in the park and SUP demos. Enjoy a free, live, concert at Bridge Point Plaza after the races.

Cave Spring Arts Festival  – Rolater Park, Cave Spring

This juried fine arts festival is complete with music, food and a variety of art forms including pottery, paintings, glass work, garden art, and metal sculpture.  Situated in beautiful Rolater Park, enjoy the lake and visit the family-friendly cave.  June second weekend.

Rome Balloon Festival – Richard B. Russell Airport 

This hot air balloon festival returns for a second year and is guaranteed to bring out the kid in everyone. Enjoy the evening moon glow where all the balloons fire-up at once.

Rome River Jam – Ridge Ferry Park 

The popular country music concert is known for bringing up-and-coming music stars to Rome and is a popular regional draw every year. This year’s acts will be announced soon, so stay tuned!


Cave Spring Motorcycle Rally – Cave Spring

If live music, motorcycles and beautiful country is your scene, then this motorcycle rally is the place to be.  Enjoy historic downtown Cave Spring; stop at the downtown shops and restaurants for a full weekend of fun. RV camping is available; but be sure to reserve in advance.

Experience the 30th Annual Running Water Powwow Cherokee Homecoming & Ripe Corn Festival on Labor Day weekend at Ridge Ferry Park,

Rome Shakespeare Festival  – Downtown Rome – Sept. 19 – 29 Free shows

Rome Shakespeare Festival is growing! In 2019, RSF will be bigger than ever, featuring three mainstage productions, a youth musical, and more!

Rome Beer Festival – Heritage Park 

Rome Beerfest is an annual celebration of the art of beer and attracts craft breweries from around the country.

Cave Spring Pigout – Rolater Park

This bbq cooking competition brings teams from around the region to compete in pork, ribs and beef categories. Taste samples of them all to pick your winner for People’s Choice.


Going Caching Mega Event – Oct. 3-7 Free

Experience legends and lore that will give you goosebumps as you geocache your way around secret locations in the city of Rome, Georgia.

Fiddlin’ Fest Between the Rivers – Downtown Rome – Oct. 12 Free Fiddlin’ Fest is a fall celebration in downtown Rome complete with bluegrass music, artisan vendors, car show, hay rides and much more!

Chiaha Harvest Fair – Ridge Ferry Park – Oct. 26 – 27
A toe-tappin’, cider-sippin’, fun-for-everyone arts festival.

Save the Date for next year!  Wings Over North Georgia Airshow – Richard B. Russell Airport – October 24-25, 2020  North Georgia’s #1 Family Weekend returns for the 7th consecutive year October 13-14 at Rome’s Russell Regional Airport and features the F-22 Raptor and A-10 Warthog.

Rome International Film Festival – Rome City Auditorium & DeSoto Theatre – Nov. 7 – 10

Founded in 2003, the Rome International Film Festival (RIFF) is northwest Georgia’s signature film festival event. Named as one of MovieMaker Magazine’s “top 20 festivals worth the submission fee,” RIFF is proud to have shared independent films from dozens of countries across the globe with thousands of film fans and filmmakers from near and far over the last 16 years.

Find the perfect gift for your loved ones or yourself with over 60 artists and craftsmen! Shop jewelry, wood-turned crafts, folk art, and much, much more! Free admission and free parking.

Forum On Ice – November through December

The Forum River Center transforms into a winter wonderful with indoor ice skating.  Many special events  including photos with Santa are announced closer to the opening.
