Abney’s photo, winner for the professional category, captures a participant in action during the Tumor Trooper Run which was hosted at the Richard B. Russell Airport summer of 2014. “I love this picture because it embodies the strength of the citizens and community of Rome and Floyd County, and it shows the support that we have here for those fighting cancer,” says Abney.

Winner of the amateur category, Gigi Gonsalves entered her photo that shows a boy exploring the beauty of Rome’s rivers by walking over the pedestrian bridge in downtown Rome.

The People’s Choice Photo is the final category of the Faces and Places photo contest. This category encouraged viewers to get involved with the Georgia’s Rome Facebook page. Entrants’ photos were uploaded, and the one with the most likes, comments, and shares combined earned the title of the People’s Choice award.

Helen Cox’s photo, which showed a local Roman smiling in the surroundings of the Ford Buildings in Berry College, received a total of 530 likes, comments, and shares combined. This attention has earned her the People’s Choice Photo.

All winners will have their photos framed and displayed at Greene’s Jewelers located at 328 Broad St, Rome, GA 30161. A reception will be held at this location on Thursday, March 26th from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
