Largest Lantern: This is a great way to showcase the work of a group, organization, or business or your individual skills as an artist. Large lanterns offer visual appeal and truly add to the parade experience.
Best Group Entry: Gather with your friends in advance and create lanterns of a similar theme to show your spirit. You might even want to coordinate your outfits or accessories to show your enthusiasm for the first Rome Lantern Parade!
Best Rome Themed: Let Rome’s landmarks, culture and history inspire your lantern design. Maybe it’s the Capitoline Wolf or the Rome Clocktower, maybe it’s a bridge, a building, or a historical figure. Get ideas on Rome’s history, attractions and culture to inspire your lantern.

Who Can Enter
Open to artists, students, individuals, groups/organizations and businesses can enter. Basically everyone! Bring your lantern to the parade. Entries will be judged before the parade begins.
Judging Criteria
Creativity & Innovation: Use of imagination; execution of concept
Presentation: Visual impact, use of color, effectiveness of lighting
Craftsmanship: Construction quality, quality finish, neatness
Contest winners will be recognized and announced at the 4th Avenue Stage
Rome Lantern Parade Rules
– Lanterns must be lit with battery operated lights
– Glass lanterns and fire lit lanterns are NOT permitted
– Participants must have a lantern to be in the parade
