Broad Street, Rome, GA 30161
This area, which lies between the Etowah and Oostanaula rivers, is the site of Rome’s founding in 1834 and where early business and industry served the new town. As this district continued to grow, the area was ravaged by the Civil War and much of Rome was burned. From the ashes, the spirit of Rome emerged and rebuilt the community into a thriving town. An audio tour highlights the founders and leaders of Rome through the years and shows how a small cotton port became the modern community it is today. Audio tour is available at the Rome-Floyd Visitor Center, 402 Civic Center Drive.
