It’s always a great time to visit Georgia’s Rome and we have plenty of reasons for you to come see us. Here are upcoming events to plan into your next visit:

1.) Roman Roast on the River – May 13 – 14

A BBQ competition unlike any other in the region and your chance to sample lip smackin’ good BBQ and vote for your favorites. Enjoy the car show and the live Rome River Jam concert all on the same grounds at beautiful Ridge Ferry Park. Get event details.

 

2.) Georgia Wake Series – May 14

Coming in at 2,200 feet long, with premier viewing and turn islands at both ends, It’s no surprise that this lake is where Jeff Langley, a household name in pro wakeboarding, honed his trade. Protected from the wind by the surrounding trees with a gently sloped shore, this pass provides premier conditions for all riders. Bring your grill. Bring your cooler.  With tons of prizes on the line, big wakes and butter every pass, you do not want to miss out on the Georgia Wake Series launch event.

3.) Shine in the Pines Moonshine Tasting – May 27

Taste samples provided by Dawsonville Moonshine Distillery & Mercier Orchards as well as food from restaurants and food trucks local to Rome, Georgia. Enjoy live entertainment as you stroll the grounds and learn about the lifestyle of the 19th century Cherokee. Get all the event details.

Rome Shakespeare Festival – May 31 – June 5 Free performances of the Shakespearean classic, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” comes with a twangy twist, as it will be set in the Northwest Georgia Mountains. The audience will feel a part of each nightly show as meddlesome fairies and goblins of the forest wreak mischief and havoc on the human world of picnickers and characters. Learn more.

5.) Rome’s Big Float – June 4

A 6-mile float trip on the Etowah River from Dixon Landing to Heritage Park in downtown Rome for canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, tubes, rafts and anything else that floats your boat. Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories including best decorated vessel, best costume, best homemade raft, largest flotilla and more. After the event River Dog Outpost will host a rocking after party at their beer garden overlooking the Etowah River in downtown Rome. Learn more.

6.) Cave Spring Arts Festival – June 11 – 12

Cave Spring’s Rolater Park will host over 100 vendors offering a variety of handmade crafts and tasty festival treats. Enjoy the park attractions including Rolater Lake, and the family-friendly Cave. Learn more.

7.) Cave Spring Fireworks – July 2 – Free

Celebrate the Fourth of July weekend the right way with a fireworks show in beautiful Cave Spring.

8.) Harbin Clinic Splash Dash 5K – July 4

This fun 5K will be the perfect way to start your 4th of July celebrations with waterslides, super soakers, water balloons, and pretty much all good things having to do with water. Bring the whole family for a refreshing run along the Oostanaula River! Register here.

9.) Cave Spring Motorcycle Rally – July 29 -30
