Free Rome Clocktower Tours Start in April

Carnegie Little Free Library

Built exactly like the original Carnegie Library in Rome and located right in front of the original building, the mini library is designed for people to give a book and take a book, encouraging the community to read and donate books, sharing their favorites with others. It’s always worth checking out when walking in downtown Rome. map

Free Art Fridays

Every Friday, artists around Rome drop off art and provide clues on social media where you can find it. It’s a fun way to get out with the kids and also get a free piece of cool art!

Downtown Rome First Saturdays – May – October

Instead of our First Fridays and Block Parties from years past, Rome has deciding to try and combine them for a one of a kind experience that involves all of downtown! With much of the area closed down for a festival featuring live music, food, shopping and art. Bring the whole family and have a blast!

Rome Lantern Parade – May

Parade along Rome’s river trails at the inaugural Rome Lantern Parade. Bring your homemade lantern or purchase one at the Downtown Saturday Block Party on Saturday, May 5. There are even free workshops to help you make a lantern. It’s free to be in the parade, but you do need a lantern to enter!

 

Educational Fun at the Rome ECO Center

The ECO Center allows people of all ages to learn about the wildlife that inhabits the river ecosystem of Rome and Floyd county. They also have several fun events plan to further teach everyone about Rome, including the wildly popular Snake Night, while not exactly free, a dollar for a ticket is so worth it.

See a Classical Concert

For families visiting Rome in 2019, if you happen to be staying at Hawthorn Suites on a weekend the Rome Symphony Orchestra is playing, you get free tickets!

Explore Outdoors

Rome offers miles and miles of trails for hiking, biking, walking and paddling. From shaded trails to trails that offer chances to view wildlife.  Checkout our outdoor guide for ways to discover Rome’s beauty or stop by one of our visitor centers for a complete guide to our outdoors.

Geocaching

Geocaching is a worldwide game of hide-and-seek and Rome has plenty of caches to discover. Learn more about this free way to explore Rome that is fun for all ages.

Rome offers a good variety of free self-guided tours and free tour apps to learn Rome’s hidden secrets and stories.  It’s a great way to enjoy an afternoon with the family or extend a weekend get-a-away.
